The Leopard is a compact, rugged and lightweight multiband tactical military radio that offers uncompromised communication for tactical missions. The radio offers continuous communication in the HF, VHF and UHF bands. The tuner, modem and GPS receiver are integrated allowing for flexible operation.
Advanced features such as automatic link establishment, frequency hopping and one-time pad encryption provide the user with a secure and reliable communication channel. The radio is suitable for portable, mobile and base station applications and is available in 30W or 125W with an external amplifier.
Ergonomic and rugged design. At only 3.2kg, the radio is the lightest multiband solution in its class. The radio enclosures are made from milled T6-aluminium and are epoxy-powder-coated. The Leopard complies with the MIL-STD-810G specifications, and its interface and controls are user-friendly and intuitive.
Robust and reliable voice and data communication. The radio is based on a true digital-software-defined platform covering a frequency band from 1.6-512MHz, thus outperforming conventional systems. The receiver automatically processes and distinguishes between voice and data communication, while the optional modem caters for automatic repeat requests (ARQ). The radio includes standard waveforms that conform to NATO and US military standards, allowing interoperability with other systems.
Extended battery life. The advanced power and battery management system incorporated in the radio offers a low standby power consumption of 1.6W. Superior 3.3V components, the latest power control techniques and battery composition provide an operation time of up to 70 hours. Two Li-Ion battery types are available: 13.0Ah and 26.0Ah @ 12V.
Antenna tuning. The Leopard comes with a build-in tuner that automatically matches the antenna to the operating frequency. Initial tuning takes only 100ms when tuned from the stored profile. At the output and input stage of the transceiver, high-performance HF, VHF and UHF filters ensure harmonic suppression and adjacent channel rejection, thus offering superior selectivity. The Leopard is fully protected against antenna mismatches and unexpected loads.
