Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company has secured a modification contract to develop a Common F-35A Conventional Take-Off and Landing (CTOL) air system.
Under the contract, Lockheed will develop the complete system including the air vehicle and the autonomic logistics global sustainment system.
This US$65.28 million contract includes foreign military sales (FMS) to the Governments of Japan and Israel.
Work under the latest contract will be performed Fort Worth, Texas; San Diego and El Segundo in California; and Baltimore, Maryland.
The contract was awarded by the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in March 2014 and is expected to be completed by December 2017.
The current contract is a modification to the US$18.92 million cost-plus-award-fee contract awarded for the JSF air system engineering and manufacturing development programme in October 2001.
