Kamenskvolokno JSC co-developed with the Alchemie Group a new super-fibre/ yarn called AuTx. AuTx fibre has twice the dynamic strength of para-aramids, which means that it can absorb twice as much energy before it breaks. In fact, its specific toughness is 50% greater than PBI and even greater then ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene – AuTx also has a greater environmental stability than all these fibres and can outlast them in most applications.
AuTx can be used in a much wider range of applications than any other high-strength engineered fibre due to its unique chemistry and physical properties. Applications include advanced, highly protective combat uniforms, ultra-light-weight load carriage equipment, ultra-light body armour and tactical vests, ultra-light electronics containers, circuit boards, antennas and masts. Alchemie develops and supplies a comprehensive range of advanced textiles, composites and components to the aerospace and defence market as well as high-end sports including F1.
Kamenskvolokno JSC is a world leader in the development and production of specialist engineered continuous filament fibres/yarns including advanced aramids, polyethylene and polypropylene. Kamenskvolokno JSC is the largest producer of para-aramid fibers and yarns in Russia. The aramids produced by the company over the last 30 years include well-known specialist brands, such as RUSLAN®, RUSLAN®-VM, ARТЕК® and AuTx®.
These yarns are available in the following linear densities − 6.3 / 14.3 / 29.4 / 31/ 58.8 / 100 tex − and are used for manufacturing of ballistic protection systems, special protective clothing, structural textile materials and goods exposed to high static and dynamic loads, in ultra-strong composite materials (organic plastics), in mechanical rubber and the cable industries.
The majority of the specialist aramid fibres produced by Kamenskvolokno are terpolyaramide yarns made up of three distinct monomers. During production of the yarns from these three monomers the ratios can be varied − as can the synthesis, spinning and finishing − to create a very wide range of engineered fibres/yarns for very specific applications. For example, high modulus yarns are produced for composites such as super-critical centrifuges and aerospace structures; high thermal resistant yarns for fire/heat protective apparel; and high toughness yarns for body armour.
Engineered textiles and composites made from AuTx are developed by Alchemie with a specialist supply chain that comprises expert development and production partners.
AuTx yarns can be supplied in a range of zero, low and high twist as well as rovings for composites and ZS twist threads for sewing. Hybrid blended and coated yarns can be developed and produced to order.
Warp, weft, circular knitted and 3D spaced textiles are produced by Mayafil and can be supplied for a range of applications such as base layers, mid layers and outer layers including three-way stretch, coated and laminated textiles. Specialist seamless socks are produced with Intersock and gloves are made by Li Fung.
Woven, leno-weave and unidirectional textiles are produced by Citerrio, Monterray 1996, Rachmanovskiy Silk Factory and Vanners for combat clothing, load carriage equipment, body armour, electronics containers, electromagnetic radiation shielding and structures. These engineered textiles are available with a comprehensive range of laminations, impregnations, coatings, printing and dyeing by specialists including Citterio, Clariant, Euroflam, French Tincture, Gateway, Lubrizol, Mascioni, PIL Membranes and Trelleborg.
Narrow woven materials for tapes, zippers, tubes, power transmission belts, hose and cable shielding, braided cords and ropes are produced in woven and knitted form with or without coatings by Coats Plc and S A Grober as well as zippers by Opti/Coats.
These engineered textiles can be supplied ex-works as well as engineered further by Alchemie into a wide range of components and products including protective apparel and load carriage equipment, compressed gas cylinders, helmet shells, lighter-than-air structures, wheels, rotors and armour panels.
