Babcock International is set to highlight its extensive defence industry experience at the popular Future Surface Fleet conference in Portsmouth, UK on 5-7 June. Majoring on its innovative through life support of warships, and strengthening its position on future naval shipbuilding, Babcock’s team of experts will share their strategic industry insights as the UK’s leading naval support business.
Drawing on experiences including the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier programme and a build programme for Irish Offshore Patrol Vessels – which recently saw its fourth ship floated-out of Babcock’s Appledore facility – Babcock will promote innovation, discuss industry challenges and identify key opportunities for the industry whilst it focuses on the benefits of collaboration.
Simon Knight, naval engineering director at Babcock, said: "Babcock is driving change across the defence industry, harnessing the power of collaborations to meet the increasing demands of our customers. With our ability to offer proven, flexible and adaptable solutions, Future Surface Fleet will enable us to showcase how Babcock can meet the build and technology needs of modern global navies."
Through its history supporting the defence industry, both domestically and internationally, Babcock has developed and delivered robust technical solutions for use across new and existing platforms offering in-service support applications for warships and submarines as well as innovative weapons handling launch system utilisation.
Babcock’s ATHENA technology is one such innovation. ATHENA offers predictive in-service support to global navies, whilst in parallel; the company’s embedded ‘designed for support’ learning package will enable the right knowledge to be available to the right teams, at the right time. Both technologies will be showcased at the conference. Combining training and technology, and embracing the positive impact of the Warship Technical Authority, Babcock is trusted to deliver a holistic in-service support package for its domestic and international customers.
Ian Cowper, head of warships platform engineering at Babcock and presenter at the conference said: "Future Surface Fleet gives Babcock the opportunity to share some of our key case studies highlighting our innovative ATHENA in-service support and how the capabilities can be applied to global navies. These examples demonstrate how our programmes can be truly embedded to support customer’s assets, ensuring they are fit for the 21st century and beyond."
Harnessing its expert naval support capability, Babcock is primed to discuss future planning, build and in-service support requirements. Currently working with global navies including the UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Spain, Republic of Korea and Oman, Babcock can offer a truly bespoke solution for export as well as domestic customers.
