Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) announced the expansion of the F-35 Master’s student internship program with Terma and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in a ceremony on 13 November announcing the newly appointed Danish interns from DTU.
Jack Crisler, Lockheed Martin F-35 vice president, and Jens Maaløe, Terma president and CEO, announced the 2016 interns and spoke briefly about the F-35 Rate Transition Execution and Quality Engineering Teams where the students will participate in actual F-35 programme tasks during five-month internships in Fort Worth, Texas, starting mid-January 2016.
The DTU students selected to participate in the 2016 F-35 intern programme are Liane Hansen, Trugvi Kristiansen, Magnus Kvisgaard, Marc Alexander Samuelsen and Andreas Noerballe.
"Lockheed Martin is pleased that we could work with Terma and DTU to provide a larger group of Danish students with this opportunity to be a part of the F-35 Program Team," said Crisler. "Success for our science, technology engineering and math students today depends on collaboration among industry, educators, policy makers and families. As an industry leader, Lockheed Martin is committed to working with Terma, DTU and Aarhus University, to develop programmes designed to educate and inspire tomorrow’s high technology workforce."
The intern program’s expansion increases the number of interns from two graduate level interns from Aarhus University in 2015 to five DTU students in 2016 through the partnership with Terma. This expansion allows both DTU and Aarhus University students the opportunity to apply and compete for the opportunity to learn more about advanced technologies in the global aerospace industry.
"Participating in this F-35 Master’s intern programme is an excellent way for Terma to give university students exposure to the value of global industrial partnerships," said Maaløe. "Shaping the future of Danish industry is critical, and we are committed to inspiring young minds. We are impressed by the skills and technological insight the students obtain through the five month internship."
"DTU has witnessed a great deal of interest in the F-35 Master’s intern program from our students, and are very pleased with the fact that no less than five MSc students have been given the chance to interact with companies like Terma and Lockheed Martin– two of the technological leaders in this field," said Martin P. Bendsøe, senior vice-president and dean of Graduate Studies and International Affairs at DTU.
